Merv Silverman, MD, Senior Counsel

merv silverman
Merv’s public health career spans four decades. He is best known as the former Director of Health in San Francisco where his work in creating a case-managed continuum of care for HIV/AIDS has been replicated around the world. Merv’s experience extends well beyond HIV – he currently consults on a variety of public health issues, including state health policy and worked extensively in and with the media.


Merv served as President of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), Director of the Regional Medical Office of the Peace Corps, and Director of the FDA’s Office of Consumer Affairs. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, received his MD from the Tulane University School of Medicine and MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
